Mallorca is an island bathed in sunlight, but this does not mean that the sea is warm enough to be bathed in 365 days a year. Only the most experienced swimmers dare to venture into the sea all year. So to go swimming all year round residents have at their disposal more than 10 indoor pools throughout the island. Teleweb Mallorca presents the one in Palma called Son Hugo.
Municipal pools in Son Hugo were completed by mid 1999 and opened to the public in September of that year. The pool is the newest and most modern of the municipal pools, and immediately began to be frequented by citizens, particularly in the afternoon.
The reason for its construction was the holding of the Universiade, the International student Olympiad, therefore the size of their pool was dictated for this purpose. Of the 4 existing pools, the 2 largest are the competition pools, one Outdoor one is 50 by 25 meters.
Furthermore, there is a children’s pool and a board for those who can or who want to dive. There are also facilities for people with special needs. The entire complex, including changing rooms, has a wide range of multiple uses, for example, international fashion shoots have been held here.
In Son Hugo you must wear bathing caps and slippers. It is get there by car, since there are no buses that go there directly and there are enough parking spaces.
Teleweb tested and recommend the pools. Well worth a visit as fun is guaranteed, and a visit to the cafeteria will finish off the day.
